Finally some progress on the 228 project!

After 4 frustrating trips and an endoscope, I still couldn't find the rigging tube entrances. Turns out, there was an access hatch inside the sleeping berth all along that I completely missed before!

Found the tubes, snaked a fish through, and confirmed Grady's 22' teleflex measurement. What a relief.

Now, before I pull that new teleflex, I need a wiring diagram for a 1997 Grady to figure out how many electrical cables (besides harnesses) to run from the battery to the helm, and what gauges.

Also, on the transom, that stainless tube where everything exits,
is there supposed to be a rubber or Teflon sleeve inside it to manage the bundle's movement as the engine tilts?

Any info on that part would be awesome.

For specific wiring diagrams, you can contact Grady White customer service directly they can advise you where to check their archived owner's manuals.

as for the transom, yes, there's should like a sleeve inside that tube to protect the wires and cables from scraping against the metal as the engine tilts and for keeping water out. hope you find what you need soon!

Why don't manufacturers make those access points more obvious, it would've saved you all that hassle up front? And yeah, why isn't that transom sleeve standard to protect the bundle?

Dealt with a similar headache when I was working on an old Wellcraft a few years ago,I overlooked a hidden panel under a seat for two whole days! And sure enough, mine had a rubber grommet in the transom tube to prevent the harness from chafing. It's definitely a good idea to add one if it's not there.
