AGM vs wet cell for Yamaha 2 stroke

I just swapped my wet cell batteries for AGMs on my boat (haven't run it yet), but i found a 2017 Yamaha Q&A saying to only use wet cells. Has anyone successfully used AGM batteries with a Yamaha ox66 250?? Wondering if that info is outdated.
 
I have a 2002 Grady-White Sailfish 282 with two Yamaha OX66 250 engines. I changed to AGM batteries last year and everything works fine, the engine starts strong and my gear runs without problems. Just check that your batteries have enough starting power (CCA) and watch the voltage when the engine is running slowly.
 
Good to hear the AGMs are working well for you! Thats reassuring. Did you have to change anything with your charging setup when you switched, or did everything work fine with the existing system? Im leaning toward AGM too, just want to be sure I won't run into issues with the Yamaha's charging system.
 
The information from 2017 is likely out of date. AGMs actually work really well with OX66s and most of the newer outboards. In fact, they're often the preferred option since they don't leak or release gas. Just make sure that your charging system voltage is compatible (which it usually is). Many OX66 owners use AGMs without running into any issues.

Thats good to know, thanks for clearing that up, i was under the impression AGMs didnt play well with the OX66. Do you happen to know if there's a particular AGM brand or model people tend to favor for these motors, or is it more about just making sure the specs line up?
