Running a 2008 282 Sailfish with twin 3.3L F250s. Current props are Saltwater Series II, 15¼ x 19P. Thinking about dropping pitch for better RPM and midrange. Anyone here swapped to 17P or other setups on a similar rig? Would appreciate numbers and results

Hey, I run a similar setup, I dropped to 17P props boosted midrange and RPM for sure, it got better throttle response and top speed felt smoother so it is worth giving it a shot

I'd go down to a 17P prop. You should get better RPM and midrange. I ran 17s on my friend's 282 with F250s, and it reached 5900 at wide open throttle and had a better hole shot too. Might be worth trying, especialy if you usually have a lot of weight on board

You're thinking exactly right about dropping pitch for better RPM and midrange – that's a super common goal, especially if you feel like you're lugging the engines a bit or not hitting your max RPM range

The general rule of thumb is that dropping 2 inches of pitch usually bumps your WOT RPM by about 400 RPM. So, if you're currently under your engine's recommended WOT range (usually around 5500-6000 for those F250s), going to a 17P could be the magic number. You'll likely notice the hole shot improve, and that midrange responsiveness will definitely get snappier.
What are your current WOT RPM and speed numbers?

A friend of mine has a 2700 Sailfish with twin F250s, and he made the switch to 17P propellers last season. He claims it really made the boat feel more responsive in the midrange, especially when they're loaded up for trips offshore. If you get a chance, it's definitely worth taking it for a test run.

Switching to 17P props on those twin F250s should give you quicker acceleration in the middle range compared to props with a higher pitch. I suggest testing performance with and without a load to see fuel use differences.
